The Parade Goes On…

You’re kidding me, right? I mean, how many stories like this are we gonna see?

WASHINGTON (CNN)—Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales mishandled highly classified information on two of the nation’s most sensitive terrorism programs, but he will not be prosecuted, the Justice Department inspector general said Tuesday.

[...]

The papers in question were so sensitive they were to be kept in the Justice Department Command Center.

“Despite this briefing, the attorney general took the notes home with him in his briefcase that evening and did not store them in a safe at his residence,” the report said.

The report says Gonzales violated the rules for handling top-secret information hours after he was briefed on the strict procedures for handling the documents. [emphasis added]

And this bit of vintage Alberto from a few paragraphs farther down…

Gonzales told investigators he did not remember taking the notes home and did not remember the combination to the safe.

Sigh…

The World’s Oldest Joke Revealed!

And wouldn’t you know, it’s a stupid fart joke.

Researchers at the University of Wolverhampton were commissioned to uncover the ten oldest known jokes, and after two months of research they’ve turned up this knee-slapper from Sumeria, c. 1900 B.C.:

“Something which has never occurred since time immemorial; a young woman did not fart in her husband’s lap.”

Fashions may come and go, but body odor jokes are eternal.

Why No, I Haven’t Been Blogging Lately…

...But there’s a reason. It’s been a very busy six weeks, and I’m about to get even busier.

On the one hand, there’s been a major upheaval at my accursed day job: as I write this my department is short four people, meaning lots more work for the few who remain. Whee.

Meanwhile at home I’ve been working on a bunch of projects, most of which you will not care about (like converting a spare bedroom into a music library). But buried in the mix are three web projects that I’m very, VERY excited about, and I hope to share the details with you soon. They’ll probably take up most of my free time in August and September, so bear with me if the posting here remains spotty for a bit longer. Trust me, the payoff will be worth the wait.
